Community Food Gardens

This video was produced for a council deputation in Christchurch with the aim of evolving council food policy regarding edible plants in public parks and reserves. AND IT WORKED: – the councilors loved the concept and are fast tracking a new set of governing rules to expand the future of community food in the city. Keep in the loop by signing up to our mailing list and/or facebook page. Featuring footage from the upcoming documentary Fruit & Nuts Unlimited aka Perennial Paradise – the future of food in commons /// producer Rich Humphreys #LFP #localisingfood

In our first short story looking at community gardens, we visit the quake-ravaged Garden City where the rain can’t dampen the spirits of the volunteers at New Brighton Community Gardens. In fact, we liked it so much, we went back again – when the weather was a bit better – and met their volunteer expert on compost, to see what his secrets are.
